PRUNING AND MAINTENANCE
The importance of professional tree pruning by a Certified Arborist
Pruning is an essential practice for maintaining the health, safety, and appearance of trees. When performed correctly, it provides numerous long-term benefits:
- Promotes Health: Removing dead, diseased, or damaged branches helps prevent decay and the spread of pests or pathogens.
- Enhances Structure: Proper pruning fosters a strong, well-balanced framework that supports healthy, sustainable growth.
- Improves Safety: Eliminating weak or hazardous limbs reduces the risk of falling branches that could endanger people or property.
- Optimizes Growth: Thinning the canopy increases sunlight penetration and air circulation, which benefits both the tree and the surrounding landscape.
- Refines Appearance: Professional pruning preserves the tree’s natural form, enhances property aesthetics, and helps control size where necessary.
What does Dr. Alex Shigo, the "Father of modern arboriculture" say about proper pruning?
DORMANT PRUNING
Certain deciduous trees, including fruit trees respond well to late winter pruning. Working on trees in the dormant season gives the Arborist an increased visibility of the tree's structure without leaves and enough time for proper wound closure for the plant.
TREE REMOVAL AND STUMP GRINDING
REMOVAL
While our ultimate goal is the preservation of trees, there are some instances in which they require removal. Some of these situations include structural compromise, decay, disease, insect infestation and property development. Our Certified Arborists will take a systematic approach to evaluating the need to remove a tree. Maintaining the safety of our clients and their property is our greatest priority, while also being mindful of the health of the surrounding trees.
STUMP GRINDING
Tree stumps are ugly! Our stump grinding process is safe and efficient. Hire us to remove that old root monster to make way for a fresh, new look. Did you know that we are able to grind most stumps sufficiently enough to plant a new tree in the exact same location??
EMERGENCY SERVICES
What's your neighbor's tree doing in your garage?!? High winds, snow and ice can cause significant damage to your (and your neighbor's) trees. Tree root systems can fail due to saturated ground conditions. We take a proactive approach to maintaining our client's trees and mitigating risk by evaluating, pruning, cabling, etc. in an effort to avoid the damage seen in the photos below. However, since we haven't quite figured out how to control the weather, we stand at the ready for when disaster strikes. One of our arborists is always on call, so you can reach us in an emergency, 24/7.
